PRP Application

PRP, or Platelet-Rich Plasma, is a treatment technique based on the principle of concentrating the growth factors contained in our blood cells called platelets in the target tissue, which has been used in various medical fields for a long time.

PRP is a medical procedure and should only be performed by doctors. After examining the patient, the doctor takes a small amount of blood into tubes containing a special gel and applies a centrifugation process. After this process, the blood components in the tubes are separated; the part consisting of red blood cells is separated, leaving behind a gel with a density of approximately 200,000 platelets per milliliter, reaching up to 1.5 million platelets per milliliter. This is called PRP.

Platelets have functions related to blood clotting as well as releasing growth factors that facilitate tissue repair. Therefore, PRP obtained from centrifuged blood, rich in platelets, is applied to the desired area either through the mesotherapy method or in the form of a mask. Thus, natural growth factors that reverse tissue damage or aging effects are delivered to the desired area. The first use of centrifuged blood dates back many years ago in Japan, and later began in Spain and America, and is now widely practiced in many countries.

What are the application areas?

It is known to be effective in musculoskeletal disorders, osteoarthritis, cartilage damage, joint, spine, and soft tissue rheumatism, hair loss, skin problems, non-healing wound treatment, anti-aging, dental applications, as well as aesthetic medical applications.

Are there any side effects?

PRP application is an autologous procedure. The platelets used are taken from the patient themselves. Therefore, there is no risk of immunological reaction or infectious disease if it is performed with ready-made kits and in a sterile environment.

Who is not eligible for PRP?

PRP is not applied to individuals with thrombocytopenia, hypofibrinogenemia, sepsis, a history of cancer, pregnant, and breastfeeding individuals.
